Why I Believe In Tablescapes.

He rushed into the meeting running late from another meeting. He knew this meeting was important. Could this be the most important meeting of his life? You see he was setting on the board not only for the reason his executive had listed. He would be a good step for his career. After all he was an expert on the subject. Lateness is something that happened often and he never could understand why. He was always late even when he allowed enough time.

Startled by what he saw he realized he wasn’t late at all. The meeting had not started. He looked around and one of the other board members came over to greet him. Welcome. We will introduce you properly when the board meeting begins. In the meantime get yourself what you need for the meeting as we wait for a couple other board members. We also allow are meetings to have a little conversation time before starting.

For this reason I believe in board meeting should have tablescapes. Is your board meetings all work. You get there call the meeting to order and then proceed with the meeting and finish and leave? This will help that mentality of getting things done.

Informal time before a board meeting is something that usually only happens when the board is having new members or something special is going on. However, I understand the difference between the two mentality.

  1. One mine set is that if we don’t have any distractions will get the decisions made and work will get done.

  2. The other mind set is we have to be together for hours might as well enjoy are selfs.

I have served on both boards and personally know both work depending on the task at hand. So why do I recommend the tablescape.

  1. The conversation is instant, when you enter a room for the first time and don’t know what you are going to talk about. The tablescape is a topic of conversation.

  2. The table scape has information for the board members. You can include things like promotional items, new changes, brochure, plus company colors in the table arrangements. If you wish you can have your business logo displayed in a floral arrangement.

  3. You’re having people help you decide business decisions. You’re going to want to know more about them and make sure they care about your business. Not just making a name for themselves because they are sitting on your board. Those positions are for money leanders. People who loan money to your business in return for ________________.

  4. It’ provides for the board member to get up and walk this is especially important if you using computors.

  5. In this tech era it is a way to hid the cords making things esthetically pleasing allowing the person to enjoy what they are doing. When a person is staring out while someone is talking and all they are looking at is a bunch of computers plugged into the same location. It can become difficult, anxiety, and stressful.

  6. Looking at a seasonal tablescape brings other factors into what makes your business great? If it’s fall and your planning next years fall season, then decorate with fall items. If it’s fall and you're in next years spring, set the table for spring. It helps in communication your business goals and what you're trying to achieve.

  7. Relax. It allows your business another way to convey information to your board members male or female. It’s always better working with people you know then people who are their due to the fact they have to volunteer.

In my experience, the more the board members understand your business the better it is. We are always people who are in a hurry to get things done. Why not enjoy the process of what you have to do then rushing to the next meeting. You’ll always have time to rush off to the next meeting. Stop, take care of yourself, do what works. As always my belief might not work for your business. You’ll have to ask your people what they enjoy. Remember be gentle with one another as you change things. People don’t like change. It’s human to want things to stay the same.
